What does the Boatr app cost?
Nothing. Boatr is free to download and free to use — no account, no sign-up, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. Download it, open it, and you’re away.
What do I get with the Boatr app?
BoatMap — over 700 anchorages, marinas, boat ramps, fuel stops and boat-access restaurants around Australia; the Industry Directory with 1,300+ marine trades and suppliers; a 10-day weather forecast for where you are or anywhere you search; and Vessel IQ, which keeps your boat’s profile, logbook, maintenance, equipment and documents in one place.
What is BoatMap and can I navigate with it?
BoatMap is our map of over 700 boating locations around Australia — anchorages, boat ramps, marinas, fuel stops, waterfront restaurants and points of interest, each with photos, facilities and notes. It’s built for planning where to go and what’s there when you arrive. It is not a navigational chart, it doesn’t reliably show hazards or depths, and it must not be used for navigation — always navigate with proper charts and current official sources.
What can Vessel IQ actually do for my boat?
It keeps the whole boat in one place: your boat’s profile and photos, a trip logbook with engine hours and conditions, maintenance schedules that come due by date or engine hours, an equipment register, expiry reminders for rego, insurance and other documents, and a defect log so problems get fixed instead of forgotten. Reminders are a convenience, not a compliance or safety service — registration and servicing stay your responsibility.
Who’s in the Industry Directory?
Over 1,300 Australian marine businesses across 79 trades — mechanics, detailers, surveyors, brokers, chandlers, riggers, transporters and more, in every state. Call, email or visit a provider straight from its listing; your enquiry goes directly to the business. If you run a marine business and want your listing corrected or removed, email hello@boatr.au.
Does it work offline?
Mostly, yes. Everything you’ve entered — your boat, logbook, documents, equipment — lives on your phone and works with no signal. The Industry Directory is built in, and the weather screen keeps your most recent forecast for when coverage drops out on the water. The map itself needs a connection to draw.
What happens to my data?
It stays on your phone. Boatr has no server and no accounts — everything you enter is stored on your device, nothing is uploaded, and we can’t see any of it. No analytics, no tracking, no ads. The trade-off: your data isn’t backed up or synced between devices, so deleting the app deletes it permanently.
Is Boatr available on iPhone and Android?
Boatr is on the App Store for iPhone now. An Android version is coming soon — email hello@boatr.au and we’ll let you know the moment it lands.
